Wounded Warriors of Collier County

How it all started

Dave Mullin of Naples, Florida had the idea of a veteran focused golf fundraiser in Naples back in 2011. Since that fundraiser, each year more and more people volunteered for the fundraiser. After years of fundraising and speaking with organizations like the David Lawrence Center, Collier County Sheriff’s Office, St. Matthews House, and, Hunger & Homeless Coalition, he soon realized there was a gap that needed to be filled. Wounded Warriors of Collier County was officially founded in 2014 as a nonprofit organization to help homeless veterans in Naples.

Homeless Veterans in Collier County

Even though we live in a wealthy community, there is still a significant number of people that need our help. With the rising costs of rent, utilities, and food a lot of these veterans can no longer afford to live in the city that they call home. This program is not only helps male veterans but also female veterans and their families. According to the Department of Veteran Affairs, there are approximately 165,000 women veterans living in the state of Florida.

Support from the Naples community

In 2022 Wounded Warriors of Collier County raised over $1 million dollars. Leaders in Collier County have realized the real problem is affordable housing and the rising cost of living. Charitable organizations in town have been working with Wounded Warriors to lessen the burden on our veterans in the community. There are so many veterans in our neighborhood that do not have any help and need it. Wounded Warriors of Collier County now owns 4 houses in Naples that they provide to veterans.
